Tregenna Castle, Trelyon Ave, Carbis Bay, Saint Ives TR26 2DE
As an Experienced Cornish wedding photographer, I have documented weddings at some gorgeous locations. I have to say Tregenna Castle is in my Top Three list, and it's not number three. This venue is breathtaking and offers so many fabulous photo opportunities.
In June 2021, I captured the lovely wedding of Mr and Mrs Carpenter at Tregenna. As I got in, I thought, "wow, every couple has to see this venue!".
Every aspect of the photography, including my drone pictures, looked fabulous - I hope you'll agree!
If you're planning your wedding in Cornwall and looking for a memorable venue, you should consider Tregenna Castle. Below, I share much of what this venue offers and how couples can have their perfect wedding there.
History
Tregenna Castle has a beautifully rich history, dating back to the 18th century. This lovely location was built for a Cornish family that loved the sea. It stayed with them for about a century before being sold by the last heir.
The subsequent significant use of Tregenna Castle was as a railway hotel. The Great Western Hotel purchased it as a seaside railway hotel because of its fabulous views. They expanded and added more details to this incredible venue to cope with its new service.
When the Great Western Railway was nationalised, ownership of this fabulous location changed again. It finally became a family-owned castle again in 1992 when its current owners purchased it.
Tregenna Castle has played host to many famous people over the years. Some of them are Prince Philip, Sir David Attenborough, David Bowie and even Anthony Joshua. Most recently, however, Presidents and prime ministers from around the world were here for the G7 summit in June 2021.
Yes, you saw that date right. Remember I said I captured Mr and Mrs Carpenter's wedding here in June 2021. In fact, the very next day after the G7 summit, there was a wedding on the grounds! A testament to the fact that this venue is dedicated to the happiness of its couples.
Location
Tregenna Castle is located in an estate on the top of Tregenna Hill. Right in the path that leads to the centre of the beautiful St. Ives. It is a fabulous space with waterfront views and breathtaking landscaping. You'll also love the famous landmarks and beautiful gardens around.
You'll find the estate at the top of Tregenna Hill - the path which leads you right to the centre of St Ives. St Ives is known for its surf beaches and eclectic art scene. But go beyond the beautiful bay, and you'll find that glorious gardens, fascinating history, and world-famous landmarks are never far away.
Wedding Ceremony
Tregenna Castle offers couples the opportunity to say their vows in magical indoor spaces or the enchanting outdoors. Both are licensed for celebrations with facilities ensuring that couples and their loved ones have a fabulous time.
Trelawney is the largest indoor wedding ceremony space at Tregenna Castle. It can host up to 180 guests and has elegant décor with mesmerising views of the gardens. Trelawney also comes with a private bar.
The Lounge Bar is the next indoor ceremony space at the castle. Perfect for couples who want a small and intimate space, it can host 20 guests. You'll love the stunning sea views that this space offers. It also comes with a bar, of course!
Moving outdoors, you'll love the Sea View Pavilion, which can host up to 120 guests for your ceremony. It has panoramic views of St. Ives Bay, and you'll enjoy the gardens all around too. This is where Mr and Mrs Carpenter had their ceremony, and it is just gorgeous. You can see the blue Atlantic in the background for miles.
Next in the gorgeous Outdoors at Tregenna Castle is the Mesmerising Woodland Pavilion. This intimate space is hidden away in the subtropical gardens and is a delight. It can host up to 20 guests for a private wedding ceremony.
